SETTLEMENT

Waiting on the settlement,

three million dollars,

in her grandiose thoughts.

Enough to buy off doctors,

the mental health system,

birds with human heads.

She pulls down her pants in search

of the man that was

there, shedding like a snake.

MIRACULOUS BIRTH

Miraculous birth.

Hope was her name.

A ghost was the father.

She had his eyes.

Wore bed sheets for clothes.

Walked into walls.

Overdosed on psych

Meds, face turned pale.

CARRY ME AWAY

Teeth tear

into me.

A hawk

carries me

away.

In this

troubled dream,

I am

the main course.

I smile.

I wake up

hungry.

I taste

the meat on

by bones.

The hawk

returns

and I tear

its wings off.

It smiles.

I fly and

the hawk

dreams of

being

human.
